Matt Sickels is a professional guitarist and educator based in North Carolina. Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, he first learned guitar from his grandmother, Emma, at the age of 11. Early on, Matt built a reputation performing with his father’s band and alongside his brother Fred, a child prodigy drummer.

After graduating from the Atlanta Institute of Music in 2008, Matt began working full-time as a musician and educator throughout North Carolina and the East Coast. Following years of performing in the regional music scene, he gained widespread online attention in 2016 through his solo guitar videos and his guest solo on “Tidal Motion” by John Ray.

In 2017, Matt joined JamTrackCentral and released his popular “20 Sick Licks” package. That same year, he was featured at the International Guitar Summit, performing alongside acclaimed guitarists including Daniel Seriff, Seth Rosenbloom, Tom Quayle, Mark Lettieri, Isaiah Sharkey, Josh Smith, and Kirk Fletcher.

Today, Matt serves as a mentor for the Sonora Guitar Mastery Intensive and is widely respected among modern guitar players for both his musicianship and teaching. He is currently focused on creating original music, mentoring students, and continuing to grow his career as part of the LSL Instruments family.
